Our Mission

Being the world’s first Online Confucius Institute, we aim to draw on the expertise of The Open University in its own unique method of supported distance learning. Our flexible, all-inclusive, and social approach to education enables us to reach and inspire learners at scale from all backgrounds and locations who might not otherwise have the opportunity to learn Chinese and to explore Chinese civilisation and cultures.

Bridging scholarship and research, the Online Confucius Institute will provide a range of opportunities for students, researchers, teachers and the wider professional community to engage with Chinese language and cultures, develop their intercultural understanding, and advance knowledge.
